Who we are
MAPBIOMAS NETWORK
We are a Network of NGOs, Research Institutions and Tech Startup that started in Brazil, expanded the scope to other territories of South America and Indonesia towards a Global Network. We expanded the Global Network guided by the Coordination Team and the Network Committee and shared the same principles of MapBiomas.
As MapBiomas Network, we are currently made up of six initiatives that map land cover and use in Brazil, in the Pan Amazon, Chaco, Tri-national Atlantic Forest, Tri-national Pampa and also in Indonesia. This year, to the already covered countries: Paraguay and Uruguay; we have expanded to Chile and country wide Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela, all of them involving local institutions.
MAPBIOMAS CHACO
MapBiomas Chaco is an initiative that emerges from a Collaboration for Forests and Agriculture to understand the processes of transformation in the Gran American Chaco from the annual monitoring of land use and cover. It includes governmental and non-governmental, academic and research institutions from Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Brazil.
